NIPUN App Upgrade to Track Student Learning in UP Schools

To improve the learning level of students in Uttar Pradesh government schools, the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan's State Project Office has upgraded the NIPUN app. This app will help teachers, school heads, and officers understand how well students are learning in real time. Every teacher must now use this app to assess at least five students from their class each week.

This new step will help in finding out the learning level of every child. It is very important because it helps teachers know which student needs more help. The goal of the NIPUN app is to make sure that all students in classes 1 to 8 are learning well.

For this, a special question bank has been made. This question bank has different questions for each subject, like Hindi, English, Math, and EVS. The questions in the app are designed to test the student’s understanding. These are not just memory-based questions, but help check what the child understands.

When teachers open the app, they will get random questions for each student. These questions will not be the same every time. The app will choose the questions automatically. This keeps the process fair and gives a clear picture of how well the student is doing.

If a student gives the wrong answer, the app will give suggestions for support. This way, the teacher will know which student needs help and in which topic. The teacher can then plan extra lessons for that student.

The app has teaching plans for 25 weeks. Teachers have to follow these plans and do the assessments according to the schedule. They can see what topics to teach and what questions to ask at what time. This helps in planning better lessons.

Teachers, supervisors, and master trainers are all part of this app. They can see the progress of the students and also give feedback. Based on the student’s answers, the app shows the performance and understanding level immediately.

The app will work only on working days. It will be closed on Sundays and other holidays. Also, once a teacher completes the evaluation for two schools, that part of the app will get locked. This is done to avoid duplicate entries.

According to the Director General Kanchan Verma, the academic Resource Persons (ARPs) will visit 30 schools every month. They will check if the app is being used properly. Similarly, State Resource Group (SRG) and DIET mentors will also visit 10 schools every month. They will observe if the students are being assessed and helped as planned.

The ERPs will divide their visits into different classes. That means they will not check only one class, but will look at how learning is happening in all classes from 1 to 8. This gives a full picture of learning in the school.

The assessment of students will take place every three months. This is called a quarterly assessment. After each assessment, the performance will be shown in the app according to the level of the child. This means if a child is in class 5 but is learning at a class 3 level, the app will show this clearly.

Teachers will also have to give feedback and make a remedial plan after each assessment. A remedial plan means extra help for students who are not doing well. This is very important because it ensures that no child is left behind.

All the data from the app will be used in monthly review meetings. Basic Education Officers and Block Education Officers will see the app data and understand how the children are doing. If a school is doing very well, it will be appreciated. If some schools are not doing well, they will get support and help to improve.

With the start of the new school year, the State Project Director has sent a clear order to all Basic Shiksha Adhikaris (BSAs) and school heads. They have to make sure that all teachers in their schools are using the app. This is not optional. It is now part of their teaching work.

To help teachers understand how to use the app, a user manual has also been shared. This manual tells them how to log in, how to do assessments, how to check results, and how to make plans for weak students. This step makes the app easy to use for all teachers, even those who are not very used to smartphones.

This app is a big step in making sure that all children in government schools of Uttar Pradesh get a good education. With regular assessments, feedback, and support, students will improve slowly but surely. The NIPUN app also makes the work of the teachers and officers more organized and data-based.

Earlier, it was difficult to know which students were weak and which were strong. Now, with the help of this app, every child’s learning status will be known. And help will be given immediately. This makes the education system fairer and stronger.

Also, since the app shows performance data, teachers will be more serious and focused on teaching. They will plan lessons better, give more time to weak students, and improve the overall learning in the class.

The school inspectors and education officers will not need to ask questions anymore about how the students are doing. They can simply check the app and see all the answers. This saves time and brings clarity.

Because of this app, every student will get attention. No one will be missed. Even in big classes, where there are many children, teachers can choose five students every week and check their progress. Slowly, the entire class will be assessed.

This upgrade in the NIPUN app is not just a technical change. It is a big change in the way teaching and learning are done. It brings discipline, focus, planning, and support—all in one place.

The app is also helpful for master trainers and supervisors. They can use the app data to advise teachers. If many students in a class are weak in Math, the supervisor can suggest some good teaching methods. This teamwork will help in improving results faster.

Parents, too, can be informed based on the data from the app. They will know how their child is doing and what extra help is needed at home. This builds trust between parents and the school.

In the future, if this app is used well, the learning level in UP government schools will go up. More students will reach the right learning level for their class. The gap between private and government school students will also become smaller.

This step by the State Project Office and the Basic Education Department is being welcomed by teachers and officers. Everyone wants to see good results from students. And with the NIPUN app, this dream can come true.
